Enjoy Your Christmas Thoroughly! Backup Your Data Files!

You may wonder what backup has to deal with Christmas..and yet, there is something you can benefit from here, too.

As the only way to enjoy your Christmas thoroughly is to spend your time as you want without anything interfering with your holidays, a scheduled backup has yet something to offer here.

When to backup?

Just set a scheduled backup to run on Friday evening and also on Saturday and Sunday of the Christmas weekend (if you do work or change your files during the holidays). The best time to run a Christmas backup depends, of course, on your backup schedule, but, generally, a Friday evening is the best time to run a single scheduled backup.

What to backup?

A scheduled backup on Friday evening will make sure you have backed up all your important files (work documents, mail messages, Outlook and Outlook Express files, data files, etc.) so that you do not have to worry if something happens during Christmas. And if something happens to your files, you will have a backup ready.

Where to backup?

Probably the best backup solution is to backup to an external USB hard drive. This method is quick, reliable and cost-effective. If you have little data to backup, you can use a flash USB drive or a DVD, depending on the amount of files to backup, of course.

Backup, and may your Christmas holidays been as pleasant as possible.

Correctional Institution Preventive Maintenance Software

There is a great need for preventive maintenance in correctional institutions. The public would be at risk if penal facilities waited to solve problems until after they manifested themselves. Correctional institution preventive maintenance software is necessary to ensure that life in the facility runs smoothly and none of the prisoners escape. As the governments and other organizations allot revenues for correctional facilities, there may be debate about the costs of such maintenance. Although the software is expensive, it is both effective and necessary.

The best way to implement preventive maintenance software in correctional institutions is to integrate it in facilities statewide. This provides a uniform plan for all of the penal institutions and makes it easier for such facilities to work together if need be. This also assures that all of the institutions will be equally maintained and none will be in worse condition than the others. As with many other large institutions, standardization of correctional facilities is of paramount importance.

There are many goals of correctional institution preventive maintenance software, including maintaining of the prison, reducing or eliminating emergency repairs, and systematically updating the information database. The need to maintain the physical facility is obvious - the safety of the public and the living conditions of the inmates depend on the prison being well-maintained. The need to avoid emergency repairs is parallel to the maintenance of the facility. The integrity of the facility would be disturbed if the building suddenly needed to be repaired, creating a breach in the orderly pattern of operations. Finally, the creation of a comprehensive database makes it easier to keep accurate records and to share information between facilities.

Correctional institution preventative maintenance software streamlines the operations of the facilities and minimizes unpredictable events. In the long run, it saves the taxpayers’ money by making the institutions more efficient.

Preventive Maintenance Software Info features detailed information on preventive maintenance software for health care and correctional institutions, computer hardware, and personal assets, as well as reviews of preventive maintenance software companies. Hidden Security Cameras

Hidden Cameras are installed in most public places such as department stores, shopping malls, multiplexes, railway stations, airports, casinos, banks, etc. As their name suggests, these cameras are kept in places concealed to the public and they surreptitiously record people’s movements. They are connected to monitors or TV screens. Any incriminating move immediately shows up on the screens, which are manned by security personnel.

Security Cameras are very small and compact in size. Some modern cameras are so small that they measure just a couple of inches across and only a few millimeters in thickness. Bigger versions are available, but they are not popular as it is difficult to conceal them. Miniature and sub-miniature versions of Security Cameras are mostly used.

Large establishments use several hidden Security Cameras in various strategic points and then connect all of them together by cables. These are then networked onto a single CCTV monitor. CCTV screens are closely monitored by security guards. The advantage of having a CCTV Hidden Security Camera is that multiple views can be obtained simultaneously on the same screen.

Several methods are adopted to camouflage Security Cameras. They may be affixed inside ceiling fans, table lamps, in frames of paintings, or some other such camouflaged place. Some appliances use extreme deceptive tactics to hide their cameras. There are toys, lamps, clocks and other appliances which actually may be highly disguised Security Cameras.

They can be either wired or wireless. Despite their small size, they have a built-in recorder that records and simultaneously broadcasts images over the screen. Usually these cameras are installed at specific vantage points on or near the ceilings. Plaster is used to attach the plastic body of the camera to the wall. Tiny camera mounts are also available, but bring the camera more into view.

Some countries, like Great Britain, are trying to bring the whole of their public life into the view of Hidden Cameras. There are about 25 million hidden Security Cameras being used worldwide and millions of dollars are being spent for their purchase and research.

Hidden Cameras provides detailed information about hidden cameras, hidden security cameras, hidden video cameras, wireless hidden cameras and more. Hidden Cameras is the sister site of Security Cameras Web.

CH 47 Chinook Modification with Side Slots to Improve performance

I propose a modification on the CH 47 Chinook Helicopter to increase take off weight, lift off, stability near the ground on take off and ground effect or ground cushion on landings. The modification will be retractable slots on the protruding extended exterior base of the helicopter which will be attached parallel to the length of the rounded edge of the base. This modification will be a “C” shape cupping the curved surface as if it were the leading edge of a wing. The slots will be exactly as those on a STOL aircraft on the leading edge of the wing. On the topside of the slot there will be a lip, which flares outward, which will double as a step or area for a guide rope, hook or tie down.

Such a flare will ensure maximum amount of airflow in the vicinity makes the continued laminar flow to the flat belly of the aircraft. Airflow from both sides of the round edges will collide increasing the air pressure underneath the flat belly of the aircraft and lift it up. Think of a hydro-craft scenario, we will be using additional principles of ground effect to enhance the landing and taking off characteristics of the Chinook. During nose down forward flight this will also assist the aircraft by allowing for maximum airflow to reduce drag, as slots do on any aircraft, at higher speeds retraction is a possible option if this feature makes sense. Wind tunnel tests should be performed at different angles of attack for forward flight as well as downward airflows to simulate the force of the rotor wash. Rotor wash is energy, I propose to use all the energy we can to it’s absolute maximum since the cost to produce it are paid in fuel and additional weight.

These slots will help the air make the corner as the rotor blades blow massive amounts of air downward, forcing it under the aircraft for ground effect. This will allow hovering under less than normal power and allow the aircraft to have softer landings. Imagine standing upright with a piece of plywood and letting it fall to the ground with you on top of it, no hard landings will occur. For lifting wind sensitive cargo the slots can be retracted if such a feature is needed. I propose these add-on slots not be made of composite due to the chance of fire causing them to emit cyanide gas, unless the undercarriage is already made out of such material, as is the case on some of the models. If so then to prevent problems with fumes in case of fire or if used in aerial fire fighting or in the war zone, then I propose they be coated with ceramic material and interlaced with other non-flammable materials.

Finding A Bar Code Printer For You

For years, I used handmade price tags in my small business. This was not only time consuming in terms of creating the price tags, it also made it difficult to keep track of my inventory. Bar code printing, in any business, can bar code printing reduce costs, improve data management and accessibility, and increase productivity. There are unlimited applications and advantages to using a bar code printer.

Bar codes are made through various combinations of spaces and bars to create an encoded character message. Both the differences in the ink level and the spacing between the bars can be encoded variables. The bar code reader measures the light that comes back from the symbols, and comparing that to a computer database, offers what the symbol means to a computerized inventory program. The type of bar code you and your small business decide to use depends entirely on how much information you need the bar code to store. You can encrypt anywhere from fourteen digits to thousands of characters.

Once you have decided to make use of bar code technology in your small business, you have to decide what type of bar code printer you need. To print any type of bar code, you will need software that supports bar coding. Once you’ve gotten that far, you will also need a printer that can handle printing bar codes. Because accuracy is essential in the business of bar coding, a good printer is essential. While some common laser printers and desk printers can handle bar code technology, they have to be configured to your software. Buying a dedicated bar code printer is a good idea, in any case.

Bar code printers can work well with many different computer interfaces, and can be hooked up in a number of different ways including ethernet cables, USB cables, parallel cables, serial cables, twinax cables, and coax cables. More recently, it is possible to use a bar code printer with wireless technology like Bluetooth or 802.11b. Most companies who sell bar code printers also offer technical support like remote monitoring and trouble shooting.

You can decide on the right bar code printer to meet your needs by first thinking about size. The size of your bar code labels is very important to figuring out which printer you need. You should consider the kinds of environments the label will be expected to perform in. This can help you decide upon the print method. There are two types of print methods: direct thermal and thermal transfer. Direct thermal creates an image on the material that is to be labeled. Thermal transfer uses a heated ribbon to create the image of your bar code on a wide selection of materials.

I am quite happy with my new bar coding system. Finding a bar code printer that fits your needs can make all the difference in your business.

Christopher M. Luck has an extensive background with over 18 years experience in dealing with bar code printersand is now offering his free professional bar code printer advice to the public. Wireless Hotspot Security A Hackers View

Hotspot hacking is more like fishing that anything else, it’s so easy you can just sit back and watch, read a book, or laugh at the traffic.

Using a wireless hotspot is like using a party line phone with many conversations going on. If you want to keep you internet traffic to your self just make sure it is encrypted. This isn’t an article about encryption but I will give you the motivation to encrypt your traffic.

What a hacker will see?

Email Accounts- If you are using a POP3 email account then your user name and password are sent in clear text. Also the body and subject line of your emails will be sent in clear text. Think of unencrypted traffic like a post card, if you want to read it just turn it over. To see unencrypted traffic a hacker will use a network sniffer and watch the packets go by. Sending personal emails with banking information is very common at hotspots. If you are always on the road you might be sending confidential company information in plain text. Find out today if you email traffic is encrypted or not.

Web traffic - Using a network sniffer a hacker can watch all the web pages being viewed at that hotspot. There are many programs that will show all the pictures on websites being viewed by hotspots users.

FTP Accounts - FTP ( File Transfer Protocol) does not use encryption. FTP is used to transfer files from one computer to another. If a webmaster stops at a wireless hotspot to upload files to his server using FTP, he is exposing his user name and password to the world. Webmasters should use SSH instead of FTP to upload files to their hosting account when using a wireless hotspot.

I’m not saying stop using wireless hotspots but you should be aware that someone could be watching your every move. Use encrypted emails or verify which one of your email accounts are encrypted. Finally use a firewall, encryption will protect your wireless traffic but the firewall will protect what’s on your hard drive.

Go to http://www.wirelessninja.com to see the little know secrets of deploying a secure wireless network. http://www.wirelessninja.com will soon become a paid memebers site but for a short time it is still free. Is your wireless network Simple and Secure?

Wireless Access Points Power over Ethernet

PoE gives you the freedom of installing wireless access points anywhere a ethernet cable will go. Before power over Ethernet was available a wireless access point always had to be near a power outlet to give it power. This meant more money and usually bad placement.

PoE uses a device called a power injector to transfer the correct amount of power required to run the wireless access point. PoE uses the two unused wireless in a Ethernet cable to run the power. Gigabit Ethernet uses all the wires in an Ethernet cable thus PoE is not available for Gigabit Ethernet. Each client device that meets the standards of the PoE 802.3af amendment will be assigned a power class of 0-3 which will mandate how many watts they need. Often your wireless access point will be managed by a switch that will double as a PoE injector.

Wireless access point placement is a major key for good security, both physical and wireless. If you are using a Fat access point which is located near a common power outlet or easily in reach of employees all it takes is a paper clip to reset the access point and your network has been hacked. Also placement is a major concern because if you install a wireless access point on the perimeter walls of you office you have just sent half you signal out side to the war driver passing by.

Remember when coming up with your wireless network budget do not let anyone say we don’t need PoE. Compromising on placement of your access points will cost you security and money in the long run.

Simple and Secure wireless networking, Spend ten minutes at http://www.wirelessninja.com and your wireless network will be ten times more secure, cost you ten times as less and have ten times less administrative overhead.

Job Shop Scheduling Software

Job shop scheduling is the process of detailing resources that are allocated for particular jobs, and the most efficient way to do all the jobs simultaneously. With companies taking up hundreds of orders from multiple clients daily, job scheduling can be arduous, given the limitation of resources and time. Job scheduling can be effectively and simply managed by using the right software.

Job scheduling generally requires the creation of complex algorithms and mathematical charts. However, with scheduling software, this can be eradicated as the software tools effectively maintain all the information on a centralized server, for real-time processing. This enables the operator to track each and every job, machine, department and employees by each hour, day, week or month. Each machine can be scheduled individually, or the entire shop can be scheduled at a time. These tools are also smart enough to prioritize the tasks, determine the capacity requirements and schedule them accordingly. They can build schedules based on the real-time capabilities of the resources, people and the machines as well as the current used capacity of the job shop. They can identify WIP, ERDs (estimated release dates), throughputs, backlogs, JIP scheduling, ASAP scheduling, priority scheduling, tandem scheduling, parallel scheduling, fragment scheduling, ship date scheduling, station-specific scheduling, station sequencing and many more.

An ideal job scheduling software is flexible enough to accommodate additional jobs and rush orders. It effectively identifies bottlenecks in the process and seeks to remove them. It keeps you in control by measuring performance on the basis of planned against actual, capacity-driven critical paths, net change effects, pulse rates and others.

Job shop scheduling software should be easy to use, cost effective, and easily coordinate with the existing systems. Simple and easy to use interface, multi-user interface, easy configuration, finite capacity planning, forward scheduling, and direct file linking with other systems are other desirable features. Many also have advanced features like integrated MRP/ERP system, drag and drop scheduling, manufacturing capacity planning tools, integrated job quote modules, multi-cell and multi-plant manufacturing support, lean manufacturing value streams support and others.

There is hundreds of job shop scheduling software tools available. Many suppliers offer additional services such as analysis, modeling, integration, training, data cleanup, customization, implementation, and measurement of benefits as well.

Job Shop Software provides detailed information on Job Shop Software, Job Shop Scheduling Software, Job Shop and Tracking Software, Job Shop Software Manufacturing and more. Job Shop Software is affiliated with Employee Scheduling Software.

Wireless IP Phones

A wireless IP Phone can be described as a sophisticated, next generation mobile IP communication device. The concept of Wireless IP Phone originated due to the spread of Wireless LAN (WLAN) in business organizations.

It integrates the regular IP phone with wireless installations and facilitates parallel voice and data support to enterprise desktops on the same wireless prop. The technology supports not just the standard packet-switch IP telephones but also the traditional circuit-switch PBX (Private Branch Exchange) interfaces. Primarily developed to be used within the offices, it combines the cost-effectiveness of an IP Phone and the convenience of a mobile phone.

Originally the wireless IP Phones were not intended to replace the traditional mobile phones but were meant to be used exclusively within a restricted environment like the premises of a business organization or a house. The earlier models work only through WLAN which has limited geographic application. The range of operation, both indoor and outdoor, of the phone would depend on the capacity of the hardware providing the wireless access and it goes without saying that performance would deteriorate with distance.

The latest models are designed to support both WLAN and public wireless network. Mobile PCs such as laptops and palmtops can be carried anywhere and can run on various applications but they lack the compact portability of cellular phones. Public wireless networks such as cellular phones cover wide geographical areas but have limited data bandwidth. Therefore, the new models of Wireless IP Phones are developed combining the open architecture of laptops and the easy portability of cellular handset so that they can switch to public wireless network after coming out of the purview of WLAN. There will not be any interruption in service during the switch.

The Wireless IP Phone works on battery and needs to be charged just like a regular cellular phone. Older models’ battery requires greater power; talk time and stand by time are also lower than those offered by a regular cellular phone. But the latest models claim to be on par with regular cellular phones and offer similar features like caller ID, call hold and transfer, conference calls, selectable ring tones, phone book etc.

However, security is the major problem. Signals are broadcast over the air in the wireless system and can be easily intercepted by outsiders who are within the range of reception. Wireless link must be secured to avoid such risks.

IP Phones provides detailed information on IP Phones, IP Phone Services, Wireless IP Phones, IP Phone Systems and more. IP Phones is affiliated with VOIP Phone System.

Microsoft Great Plains Food Processing - Implementation & Customization Highlights

Microsoft Great Plains might be considered as ERP platform to build your own custom solution upon or as the assembly place for the existing modules. Microsoft Great Plains has Inventory Control (IV), Bill of Materials (BM), Manufacturing modules, coming from Microsoft Business Solutions directly, plus it has third party solutions, such as Horizon Light Manufacturing. In Food Processing industry, however the manufacturing itself is so-called process manufacturing, where with variable input you have variable output. It is opposite to discrete manufacturing, where you expect exact number of parts to be assembled into exact number of finished products. In our opinion - you should first understand your options to automate business processes and if Manufacturing module is absolute must - only then you should purchase manufacturing and implement it. Let’s give you some highlights:

Variable Input Unit Weight. You still have to count input units, but in parallel with this you should use Pounds (US) or Kilograms (Europe, Australia, Canada). This means that Great Plains should give you catch weight routine. You can purchase simple catch weight module from existing Microsoft Great Plains partner and tune it, using Great Plains Dexterity, Modifier with VBA and SQL Server scripts. We saw the requirements when Food Processor has to control weight variations to prevent theft and issues like that. In this case you tract average weight of the input item. This is classical Dexterity routine. As this catch weight system becomes your light manufacturing application - you will need MRP reporting - use Crystal Reports to cover your reporting needs, our recommendation is to create SQL views and stored procedures for your Crystal Report

Repetitive Customer Orders. If you are food processing company - you probably have fixed number of permanent customers - grocery stores, food retail chains, restaurants and each permanent client orders the same set of products on the regular basis. You should have so-called Order-Pad with historical customer typical order components, where you just verify quantities.

EDI. In the case of large grocery stores you may need Electronic Document Interchange (EDI). The easiest way to create it in Great Plains - export SOP orders via EDI fixed-length-position SQL formatted query. You can have it as SQL routine to export Customer orders into text file and forward it to the customer through EDI channel.

eOrder. Smaller customers (Restaurant, Specialty food outlet) are willing to place internet orders. In Microsoft Great Plains you could deploy eOrder to sell on existing account.

We encourage you to analyze your alternatives. You can always appeal to our help, give us a call: 1-866-528-0577 or 1-630-961-5918, help@albaspectrum.com
