Wireless USB Vs. Bluetooth

USB is currently the industry standard
If you spend any amount of time on a computer chances are that you have used a USB device, such as a mouse or a keyboard. There are currently more than 2 billion USB devices in use around the world.

Cables can be a mess
When USB first became popular (around the year 2000) everybody loved the technology and embraced it. It was so easy to use and offered inter-compatibility with virtually every PC. As we became increasingly more reliant on USB for most of the devices that connected to our system the nest of cables behind the average computer continued to grow.

Enter Bluetooth
Bluetooth was released a couple of years following the initial release of USB and grew in popularity because it offered computer users a way to connect precious devices to the computer without worrying about the tangle of wires behind the computer and the inevitable “creative” wiring options required to connect two computers and printers located across the room.

Bluetooth took off in Europe and Asia
Bluetooth has become very popular in Europe and Asia. Not only is Bluetooth popular with computer users, but also cell phone users looking for a way to use a hands-free headset without worrying about hauling around another wire. For some reason the technology became very popular abroad, but many US computer and cell phone users had security concerns about the technology or were unimpressed with its relatively low speed for data-intensive applications.

We are on the verge of a revolution in connectivity
Wireless USB offers the convenience of Bluetooth with the security and seamless integration of current USB technology. In addition, the first release of Wireless USB (aka WUSB) will allow you to use legacy USB devices wirelessly. Here’s how it will work - you will plug a Wireless USB dongle into your desktop or laptop and then plug the Wireless USB hub into an external power supply - this could range from a few feet to several meters away. Then you could plug your USB devices into the Wireless USB hub and use them as if they were attached directly to your computer. This would be especially useful for a printer, scanner or any other device you might want to share with local computers but not necessarily over a network.

Differences between Bluetooth and Wireless USB
The most obvious difference between Bluetooth and Wireless USB is the speed - empirically you will generally always see speeds less than 1 Mbps with Bluetooth. Wireless USB, on the other hand, is rated for 480 Mbps at 5 meters. Both technologies are slower at further distances, but Wireless USB should always be faster than Bluetooth. Another obvious difference between Bluetooth and Wireless USB is security - Bluetooth devices are highly susceptible to signal-hijacking wheras the security standard for WUSB is very strict and should result in a much more secure connection - this is very important for any application which may require the transfer of sensitive data or information.

Time frame on Wireless USB
Wireless USB dongles and hubs are currently in production and should be available for purchase in the first quarter of 2006. A few manufacturers have already received approval from the FCC and other stanards organizations.

Is Wireless USB right for you
If you can hold off a couple of months to try out a really cool wireless technology I highly recommend that you consider WUSB. It may take some time to refine the protocols and iron out a few bugs in the design but the wait should be well worth it.

Preston Wily is a product development manager for Sewell Direct, an online retailer of hard-to-find USB adapters. Sewell Direct is currently establishing relationships with manufacturers of Wireless USB peripherals and devices and plans to offer these products as soon as they are available.

Cisco CCNA CCNP Home Lab Tutorial The 2503 Router

I know from experience that part of the excitement and anxiety of putting together your own CCNA / CCNP home lab is deciding what to buy! While you can make a workable home lab out of almost any combination of Cisco routers and switches, some routers are better suited for home lab work than others because they can fill multiple roles.

When you buy CCNA or CCNP “lab kits” - bundles of routers and switches - you can get a little confused about whether you’re getting a good deal. One router I get asked about quite a bit is the 2503.

2503 routers are fantastic for CCNA and CCNP home labs. They come with two serial interfaces, allowing you to connect one interface directly to another router (you’ll need a DTE/DCE cable for that, too) while connecting another to a frame relay switch if you like. If you don’t have a frame relay switch, you can connect a 2503 directly to two other routers via the serial interfaces.

You also have an AUI port, which requires a transceiver to operate as your Ethernet interface. Transceivers are pretty cheap and readily available from Cisco resellers and ebay vendors, so pick one up for each 2503 you decide to buy.

2503 routers also come with a BRI interface. Even though you may not have an ISDN simulator right now, you may choose to add one later. That makes a 2503 a great bet for future lab expansion.

All in all, 2503 routers are great for your CCNA / CCNP home lab. They run about $125 each on ebay, or less, so they’re also very affordable. There’s no better training than training on your own CCNA or CCNP home lab, and you can always sell the equipment later if you like. Basically, you’re renting the routers and switches, and the experience you get by working with the real deal is invaluable.

If You Stand Alone, You Stand Alone Reciprocate or Lose Trying

There’s an endless supply of tools available for webmasters to help make their site a success; of these a powerful and effective one is reciprocal linking. Reciprocal links have been around a long time. Since before the wild-wild-west was won. Unfortunately, they are an often overlooked or under-used method these days. How many times have you searched for a link partner to find that many websites do not even have a links page? Of those that do, few have an area on their website that actually welcomes you to request a link trade. It seems these websites are just islands unto themselves. They miss the beauty of the World Wide Web’s strange, yet brilliant web linking system.

Perhaps it’s because it takes so long to build a quality website and the owner is not at all interested in promoting anyone else’s enterprise. Or maybe it’s just too much work. Maybe they are in a hurry to see immediate profits. Therefore instead of putting in the effort and taking the necessary time to build a web presence, they look to search engines to solve all their troubles. Some may think that linking to another website is making it easy for their hard-earned visitor to leap over to another website. While that may be correct, it is also true that the other website’s visitors are jumping over to their website in return.

Little do they realize that reciprocal links would give them a big boost in the search engines. When calculating a website’s page rank, link popularity is one thing that is considered by search engines. While it is accurate that one-way inbound links are given more weight. Reciprocal links do aid in reaching a higher page rank too.

However, a critical mistake can be and has been made by many a newbie webmaster. That is trading links with every website that is willing to return the favor. Search engines take a dim view to indiscriminate linking. Therefore assuming you have a dieting website linking with a pet or travel website; well that could be detrimental to your scoring. For instance–for your site, you would be wise to start trading links with health food, exercise or vitamin websites for maximum benefit.

By creating a tightly knit link directory of complimentary websites, you would be encouraging your visitors to see your website as a valuable resource for browsing their favorite topic. As a result, these visitors will bookmark the website providing you with plenty of free return visits.

There is even an additional advantage for you if you have limited time. That is when a search engine robot has indexed your link partner’s website; it locates your link and then crawls over to your website. This may happen before you have a chance to submit the website directly to that particular engine. It’s like getting free website submissions!

As a webmaster, you not only need to keep your website updated and fresh. You should assure its success by developing a healthy traffic-producing plan. Certainly it is important to stay abreast of all the latest techniques of creating traffic. However, it is equally important to remember some of the time-tested methods like reciprocal linking to achieve this goal.

Video Games; Is There A Conspiracy Afoot To Desensitize Robots Killing Humans

In the future of war, there will be much use of robotics in the battlespace and you can bet the US Military is on the leading edge of such technologies. Recently in an online think tank this subject came up. One think tanker point to a comment made by Ronald Reagan that the video games of the day were training kids to think fast, develop military strategy and use electronic devices of war.

Although some might have a problem with that morally, I have a comment; Governments Number One Job is to Protect the American People. If that means thinking ahead a few generations, so be it. Additionally the military sponsoring contests in robotics which has spurred a whole revolution in the field of robotics is a good thing, as it means Team USA has the best of all and that technology will ultimately be transferred into private enterprise and that is a good thing.

The amount of transfer technology has served our nation well and of course I can say that as the Internet we are working with to communicate was born of ARPAnet right? If today’s robotic contests in school, shows like robot war and the video games are preparing and entertaining at the same time, well it is good to know that our team will be prepared to defend the future potential eventuality. Consider all this in 2006.

The Teen Cellular Phone Market is Growing in Leaps and Bounds

Everywhere you turn around, you see someone talking on a cell phone. This latest technological shift in the way we converse with each other has not been lost on teenagers. In fact, experts would agree, that teens are the fastest growing demographic in the cellular phone market.

And the parents are paying for their teens to have a cell phone. Why? Having your teen carry a cell phone gives you, the parent, a secure feeling that your teen will be safe with one and the additional expense becomes a mute point. If you are debating whether or not you should get your teen a cell phone, compare plans and do your homework. All key cell phone companies offer family plans as well as free cellular phones.

But before you make that purchase. While your main concern may be your teen’s safety but have you considered what your teen’s main objective may be? I doubt that it would be his/her safety. I bet your teen’s objective may be to talk to all of his/her friends on his/her new cool cell phone. Hence, the airtime usage will be astronomical. Therefore, you may wish to seek out a plan that has plenty of free minutes as well as unlimited nights and weekends. Or you may opt for a prepaid cellular plan whereby you will have more control over the minutes used.

Secondly, can you depend on your teen not to lose her/his new cellular phone? If you think that this might be an issue, perhaps you should consider a free cell phone plan. While this may cost you money at the front-end, it won’t be an extraordinary charge at the backend if your teen comes home without the cell phone.

Another tipTeenagers driving and cell phone use. While it is against the law in some areas to drive while talking on a cell phone, you may wish to consider a hands-free kit for the car. This also allows your teen driver to converse on the cell phone and concentrate on driving.

Cell phones are great devices and combined with the best cellular phone plan that suits you, your family and, of course, your budget, it’s a great investment.

Why Should You Buy Ergonomic Computer Keyboard

Your might be wondering why you should spend so much money in buying a so called ergonomic computer keyboard rather than straight flat standard computer keyboard that cause you a lot less money. Well, sometimes shopping for a computer keyboard is equal to shopping for a new car. Mostly, you don’t know how crappy your car / computer keyboard is until you try out a better car or ergonomic computer keyboard. There are couple of reasons why you should buy ergonomic computer keyboard instead of straight standard keyboard if you have to work all the time using your computer in the office or at home.

First of all is the result of research won’t lie. Over the past few years, there are many ergonomic scientists or engineers have been working together to analyze and study how human operates the computer keyboards and possible hurts that human got after typing on computer keyboard for long time. Because of this research and study, these specialists have come out a special design computer keyboard that they think can maximize productivity by minimizing operator fatigue and discomfort. For example, Microsoft has her own group of ergonomic scientists in researching and developing her line of ergonomic computer keyboards and mouse products that first to be used on Microsoft employees and see how they feel about the computer keyboards and mouse, then the scientists and engineers will make improvements depend on users’ comments. Hence, ergonomic keyboards are the result of hundreds or thousands of hours of research and study on how human operates computer keyboard and what can be done to create a better computer keyboard for all of us to use.

Secondly, you got to believe that your hands are not flat. When you are typing on a regular standard keyboard, you have to watch carefully how your hands are positioning in order for you to type on the standard keyboard. You will notice that, you have to bend your both your right and left hands a little bit and make them sit on the middle on the computer keyboard. Believe it or not, if you have positioning your hands like that for quite a while, your shoulders going to get hurt. Hence, this is why ergonomic computer keyboard is invented. Ergonomic computer keyboard allows you to lay your hands comfortably on it without you have to bend your hands to fit into the keyboard instead the computer keyboard is designed to fix your hands.

In a nutshell, the standard flat computer keyboard is designed without studying how human operates computer keyboard. It is designed so that you and I have to adjust our hands to fit the computer keyboard. On the other hand, ergonomic computer keyboard is designed so that the keyboard itself fits our hands and the ways we operate compute keyboard. Neverhtless, one advice for you if you are looking for ergonomic computer keyboard is to look around and try out different ergonomic computer keyboard that suit you the most before you decide which one to buy. This is because sometime the design of ergonomic computer keyboard might doesn’t suit what you need. I would recommend you to shop around at http://www.compkeyboard.com for the best computer keyboard advices and offers.

It’s Cool to Play Games

One of the best ways a majority of us relax, stay engaged, stave off boredom, or even blow off hours at work is to play gamesvideo games, computer games (you do know there are a few addictive games in your word program, right?), or online games.

I own over a hundred games from the ever-wonderful bigfishgames.com. I regularly visit gaming sites on the Internet as well. One, I still check out quite a bit is actually a free - boxerjam, great name isn’t it? never mind that these are where I played my very first games online the very first timein the early eightiesI went online. (Those were the days when you would dial in, wait while the screeeoooobongbongbong sound that would later absolutely drive up the wall).

One game that I have been playing quite a bit lately, and I am absolutely hooked on is Pogo. You can play at three but you have to put up with intermittent advertisements. But really, paying to play games at Pogo (and I’m sure at other equally fine sites) is pretty cheap anyhow if you want to go that route. Especially if you prefer to stay at home (because you find that people now drive you absolutely nuts), never spend money on anything other than food and shelter, and deserve (as every human does) the mind altering of fact that playing games affords.

Believe it or not they are actually some benefits to Lane is games other than just for its entertainment values. Let’s take a look at a few:

1.Such platforms or networks or whatever they are called these days allow games to return to their natural form. You can play games like Checkers, a version of Scrabble, or Canasta, for example, with a robot that is programmed so that you can choose them to lead skill levels that are predetermined by you. And the new avatars (mini-me cartoon representations of players/members) have very human expressions like smiles, frowns, even human like expressions that can be seen when winning a round, losing a game, conceding to a set or match.

2.In-game chat for real-time games means you get to play games and communicate with others as you play, anywhere in the world, live. You don’t hear from them three days after you emailed or snail mailed a message; you don’t wait ten minutes as if you are stoned and swearing you took way too long to answer that question; you type back and forth to people all over the world. If that’s what interests you. You can, of course, choose to either play games against the computer program itself or human counterparts of your choosing.

3. There are benefits of the previous listed points which include such things as, gaming online enhances social skills because you have to deal with others, breaks down barriers, encourages the human sentiments of empathy and sympathy (for anything important to the online/human acquaintanceslife issues, feelings, attitudes about hard games or dull ones or games acting up); and, in my estimation, beats having to play games alone.

4. The miracle of online game playing systems also encourages altruism and contributes to technological knowledge development, on whatever level. People with like-minded interests tend to help others, chat, manipulate pc commands/controls, play unfamiliar games, and, in general, have a great deal of fun and are acting with each other. It’s a beautiful thing.

While we now know, too, that when you play games (of any mode and of certain types), those games help to sharpen some of our mental faculties, Alzheimer’s, and, in my coo-coo world, the insanity of such needful mental aberrations as ADD, ADHD, and OCDthough this last benefit is not necessarily empirically proven. There has been quite a bit of research done on this topic and you can bet there will be a whole lot more to come.

So to play games is to invite motivation for beating your personal best, to perform in competition-mode (though this is very understated), to compete and try to win some money if that’s at stake. Our earliest ancestors no doubt liked to play games and were amused by them. Even if its these tokens that are virtually real but virtually useless for anything other than virtual activities. Whatever the case, it all translates to F-U-N.

Morgan Hamilton offers expert advice and great tips regarding all aspects concerning games. Get the information you are seeking now by visiting Play Games

Industrial Robots

The term “robot” refers to appliances and machines that are monitored and controlled by a computer. They are used extensively to ease human workload. Robots are designed to perform repetitive chores quickly and efficiently as compared to human beings. Robots are used in various types of industries, as they help save on labor costs.

Industrial robots find application in tasks such as repairing, welding, painting, grouping, allocating, product inspection and testing. Vehicle and manufacturing industries use these appliances to design auto parts, gather equipment and scrutinize manufactured parts. Industrial robots are substituted for manpower in perilous jobs, which require carrying out hazardous and unsafe tasks.

Industrial robots are commonly used to locate ships, control and clean nuclear waste, to discover and study underwater mineral deposits, and for volcanic examination. They are also used in space voyages and for the exploration and study of planets. In the medical field, industrial robots have been used to support surgeons and to assist with operations. Of late, robot technology has developed to the point where these appliances can operate on patients independently, with the doctor controlling it located in another part of the world.

The most commonly used robot designs for industrial use are the articulated, SCARA and gantry types. Predominant type of industrial robots in use is a robot arm, which are very independent. Unimation were pioneers in producing industrial robots. These appliances are designed by connecting communication cables to the Ethernet, FireWire, or serial ports of a computer.

These are most commonly used in Japan, Western Europe and the United States. Some tasks robots perform include loading, casting, drilling, glass making, grinding, heat treatments, monitoring radiation, etc. In modern times, due to rise in complexities and demand for higher and competent productivity, industrial robots are gaining popularity. The use of robots has helped industrial development to grow in leaps and bounds, well beyond expectations.

Robots provides detailed information on Robots, Robots Air Travel Finder, Industrial Robots, Used Robots and more. Robots is affiliated with Computer Forensics Consulting.

Robotic Food Servers Need Food Grade Lubricants

Robots are quickly replacing manufacturing workers in modern factories. They do not go on strike, call in sick or sue for breaking fingernails. No Unions to deal with, no negotiation and all of these things mean greater profits for the company and quicker return on investment in capital outlays and expenditures.

Now the service industry is watching this closely. Carwashes have long sense been advocates of robotic tunnel systems to clean cars and there is more to follow, as soon your car will be dried by a Robot replica of a human which sees with sensors and never presses too hard on the finish of your car using the latest technologies in Haptics. Additionally with the lidar and sonar systems, even electronic eyes, you car will be safe from scratching or belt buckles from hapless non-caring employees, who only dry the car enough to get their tips and see ya.

The fast food industry will be the biggest winner of cost savings as the local McDonalds will be run like a robotic warehouse or factory, perfectly making each hamburger, everything will be perfect and even Ray Kroc could have never imagined his Consistency Mantra taken to such a level. Of course this machinery must be lubricated at all times; robots are no exception;

http://www.ferret.com.au/articles/2c/0c03742c.asp

And the robots cannot simply run on oil and grease type lubricants, as they will need to use food grade lubricants so when there is a malfunction, leak or spillage onto the food. No matter you can eat it without harm, probably flavored to boot. Yes the world is going robotic, are you ready for an Artificial Intelligent Robotic Run McDonalds in a town near you? Think on this.
